YouTube killed the MTV Star
Many people will remember the Buggles "hit" song "Video Killed the Radio Star", but is it time for YouTube to kill MTV? Paul McCartney premiered his new music video for "Dance Tonight" a song from not yet released album "Memory Almost Full" on YouTube. In a statement on his web site McCartney stated, "With its community of millions of worldwide users, YouTube is the leader in online video, and the premier destination to watch and share videos through a Web experience."
Stars in McCartney's new video include Natalie Portman and Mackenzie Crook. With the hype and events being released through online venues such as YouTube you have to ask yourself, what is going to happen to the likes of regular television stations such as MTV that are currently a source for these music videos?
Will YouTube and other such web sites kill MTV?
Time will tell...
