What's New?
Globalwarming Awareness2007

After our first article was submitted to our Articles Section of the Information Technology Club Website I found some interesting information. Apparently there is an SEO World Championship Contest going on right now! The contest started on January 15, 2007 and runs until May 1, 2007. This is a rather large coincidence I would say since our first article is on search engine optimization. Because this is such a big deal for website designers and web programmers throughout the world we definitely want to give the topic its due here at our Information Technology Club Website.

This year's SEO World Championship Contest Rules are rather simple and I believe these rules are the same for each contest they have held in the past.

1. Site must include either a SEO World Championship text link or a banner. (The banner may be linked or not linked). Well, we'll go ahead and include both just for them:

SEO World Championship

2. Valid contact information must be found on the site, E-mail is preferred. This part is rather easy, we have email links throughout our site for people to submit articles and suggestions at any time. But to make it a no-brainer we'll just jot that information down right here as well. To contact the Information Technology Club here at the Chippewa Valley Technical College you can E-mail us at itclub@codinghaven.com. Please make sure you put in your subject something about "no spam" since by now every bot on the planet has our E-mail address =).

3. Your official domain must be registered the same day or after January the 15th 2007. Well that part is probably the most difficult. Of course this means we can't use our Information Technology Club Website to participate in this contest right? Well we could I suppose, we would just be ineligible if we won anything. Well that's ok let's see if we can find a domain name that would fit the needs of this SEO World Championship Contest. So for now we're going to participate through our Information Technology Club Website just to see how search engine optimization works and in the meantime we invite all of you to submit your domain name ideas to our globalwarming awareness2007 SEO Inbox. Thanks!

4. Website will not use SEO methods which are clearly not approved by Search Engine Guidelines for example: doorway pages, etc. See Google webmaster Guidelines. (Any participant ignoring the Google webmaster guidelines will not qualify for a prize) It is somewhat interesting that they are using Google webmaster guidelines for the contest. In the past there have been numerous discussions by webmasters about the amount of time it takes Google to index updated webpages into their search engine results. We'll have to see how the contest pans out! My suggestion is to think long and hard about how you want your website to be indexed the very first time it pops up because from past experience first impressions are oftentimes the ONLY impression you will be able to make!

** If you'd like to participate in the globalwarming awareness2007 SEO contest yourself but don't know exactly what you need to get started, please contact us here at the Information Technology Club and we'll give you some ideas as well as some direction for how to set up your own SEO World Championship Contest Website **
